Eating beetroot is almost always my number one dietary recommendations when working with clients as so many people seem to have a sluggish gallbladder which is why I love creating healthy, delicious recipes that contain beets like this beet raspberry smoothie.
This raw beet smoothie has a mild earthy flavor from the beets but is not to noticeable as it is combined with raspberries, bananas and coconut cream that results in this beautiful pink smoothie that is perfect to use as a detox beet smoothie for weight loss or simply to enjoy on a hot summers day while reaping the health benefits of all the nutrients found in this smoothie.
Beet Raspberry Banana Smoothie
1 cup frozen raspberries
1/4 cup coconut cream
2 tbsp hemp seeds
1/4 cup diced or grated beets
1/2 cup almond milk or nut milk of your choice
*Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until nice and smooth.
Beet Smoothie Benefits
Beets are great for liver and detoxification support as beets help to get sluggish bile moving so that toxins that are dumped into the bile from the liver can be escorted out of the body via the bile. Before implementing a detoxification protocol it is important that the bile is flowing appropriately from the gall badder and is not congested, thick or vicious otherwise the toxins will build up and not leave the body as they are meant to and further burden the body.
The beetroot smoothie is great for weight loss due to beets improving bile flow and elimination of waste and toxins from the liver. Often times the body will not burn fuel from fat cells if the fat cell is full of toxins in which the liver and gallbladder are not ready to detox. Therefore a healthy liver and gallbladder is key for weight loss.
To optimize bile production and flow to help with the digestion of fats the liver needs the amino acids taurine and glycine to make bile.
