Cherry Beet Smoothie for Detox and Gut Health

August 17, 2022 by Amber

cherry beet smoothie

The color of this vibrant cherry beet smoothie says it all. Full of liver cleansing phytonutrients and antioxidants! Red fruit and vegetables are the best for cleansing the lymphatic system. Thus this beet and pomegranate cherry smoothie improves liver detox and lymph flow.

This beet and cherry smoothie with pomegranate is excellent for gut health, a sluggish gallbladder, and weight loss. It is full of antioxidants to reduce inflammation. Cherries are one of the top antioxidant-rich fruits.

The cherry smoothie recipe contains seven ingredients:

  • Cherries
  • Beets
  • Pomegranate
  • Banana
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Water

I formulated this beet cherry smoothie for myself as it contains my top superfoods for my gut health, according to my viome gut test. Banana, pomegranate, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds were all on my superfoods list, so I added a tbsp of each seed and these fruits into the smoothie.

I love adding nuts and seeds to my smoothies as they are nutrient-dense and provide satiety. Blending them into smoothies makes them much easier to digest and absorb.

If you want to get personalized with your diet and gut health, I highly recommend the viome gut test. Optimizing your gut health by adding superfoods recommended for you and avoiding foods that cause inflammation and dysbiosis is a great way to rebalance your microbiome.

This cherry beet smoothie is seriously the best beet smoothie that tastes so good and is super nutritious and beneficial for gut health. Cherries are the perfect fruit to combine with beets and pomegranate as they are naturally sweet and offset the earthy taste of beets that can be overwhelming for some people.

You are in for a healthy treat that tastes so good if you make this cherry and beet smoothie that is cleansing, and great for weight loss!

Benefits of the beet and cherry smoothie

Beets are one of the best foods to support a sluggish gallbladder and open up phase 3 liver detox. For this reason, the beet cherry smoothie is excellent for gut health and weight loss. Optimal bile flow is crucial to prevent SIBO and to escort toxins out of the liver via the bile, which is stored in the gallbladder.

Cherries are rich in antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress and inflammation. Excess inflammation leads to many health problems, including aging and weight gain.

Pomegranate contains polyphenols that decrease inflammation and have neuroprotective and antioxidant properties. The pomegranate fruit was recommended for me on my viome gut test to improve my flagellar assembly pathway score. Pomegranate inhibits the motility of pathogenic Escherichia coli, which evade the urinary tract and can cause UTIs.

Sunflower seeds are an excellent plant source of choline to support the PEMT gene. Not enough dietary choline is an underlying cause of fatty liver, which is associated with weight gain. They are also rich in vitamin E, B1, niacin, folate, B6, magnesium, Phosphorus, manganese, selenium, and copper. B vitamins and magnesium are crucial for energy production.

Manganese supports the SOD enzyme to reduce oxidative stress, and selenium is an essential nutrient for the immune system.

Pumpkin seeds are also packed full of nutrients, including vitamin K and the B vitamins except for B12. Still, they are high in folate to support the MTHFR gene and weight loss. They are also an excellent source of iron, zinc, magnesium, and manganese.

This cherry beet smoothie has ample phytonutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Drinking this smoothie is an excellent way to start your day. According to ayurvedic medicine, red foods such as cherries, beets, and pomegranate are the best foods for the lymphatic system and detoxification. Get your glow back with this skin-clearing and cleansing cherry beet smoothie that is great for liver detox!

I used frozen cherries and pomegranate in this cherry smoothie recipe as I find it to be the most affordable way to purchase cherries. Using frozen pomegranate in smoothies is a simple way to enjoy this superfood. Pomegranates can be hard to come by when out of season, yet they are available all year round at coles in Australia.

The beets are raw and chopped before blending, but I also pre-chop and freeze beets into cubes to add to various smoothies, such as this beet smoothie for weight loss.
