December 20, 2021 by Amber

chocolate quinoa smoothie this post

This chocolate quinoa smoothie for weight loss is high in plant-based protein, magnesium, and omega-three fats. The magnesium rich smoothie is a nutrition powerhouse full of essential nutrients for weight loss, energy, and immune system support!

The magnesium rich smoothie recipe contains six ingredients:

  • Quinoa
  • Prunes
  • Banana
  • Flax seeds
  • Cocoa powder
  • Almond milk

It is super yummy and easy to make. That’s what we all want these days, easy, healthy, and yummy recipes.

Benefits of this chocolate quinoa smoothie for weight loss

Quinoa, cocoa powder, flax seeds, and banana are among the top vegan foods high in magnesium for weight loss. Magnesium deficiency is correlated with obesity and insulin resistance; thus, getting enough dietary magnesium is crucial for weight loss. Not to mention, magnesium is a common nutritional deficiency in the general population.

Magnesium is a crucial nutrient for weight loss, but it is also essential for bone health, energy production, reducing stress, and metabolizing estrogen.

The mineral magnesium acts as an electrolyte in the body and is needed for optimal hydration. Magnesium is also essential for muscle relaxation and heart health. The benefits of magnesium-rich foods such as quinoa, flax seeds, and cocoa powder can go on and on, so I’ll stop there, but as you can see, everyone can benefit from eating magnesium-rich foods.

It was only recently that I tried using quinoa in a smoothie, and I am so glad I did. Using quinoa in smoothies is a great way to make a high-protein magnesium rich smoothie that contains all the essential amino acids!

The addition of flax seeds adds the essential omega-three fats. I’ve got your nutritional needs covered with the flaxseed and quinoa smoothie with the essential amino acids and fats that your body cannot make and must be obtained through food.

I made this quinoa baby puree for my baby girl and was surprised at how good it tasted. I thought to myself. I have to try making a chocolate quinoa smoothie high in magnesium and protein. And so I did, and I must say this high magnesium smoothie turned out well!

To sweeten this quinoa smoothie, I added in 2 prunes which are also great to keep your bowels moving. Yup, I again brought up the bowel movement topic that no one likes to talk about in public. But healthy bowel movements are essential for weight loss, detox, and a healthy body.

Lately, I have been making a lot of quinoa recipes, so I cook a big batch at once then store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

How to cook quinoa

I love quinoa as it is such an easy seed to cook and only takes 15 minutes.

Cook quinoa in a 2:1 ratio. Two parts water to one part quinoa. For example, 1 cup water to ½ a cup quinoa.

Place the quinoa in a pot with water, bring to a boil, then turn the heat to low and simmer for fifteen minutes.

If you don’t have fifteen minutes, my secret tip is to bring the quinoa and water to a boil, turn off the heat but keep it covered with a lid, then walk away. Voila, when you come back after fifteen minutes or later, your quinoa will still be cooked.

What can replace banana? I am allergic. They give me severe stomach cramps. Thank you.

Hmm, Im not sure what would be a good replacement for banana. They help to sweeten the smoothie so you could try adding dates instead.
