February 17, 2025 by Amber

If you love homemade granola that’s perfectly crunchy yet airy and packed with wholesome ingredients, this oil free granola with rice krispies is a must-try! The healthy cinnamon granola is completely oil-free, naturally sweetened with maple syrup, and loaded with nutrient-rich seeds like hemp, chia, and pumpkin. The combination of quick oats and brown rice Krispies gives it an ultra-light and airy crunch, making it a favorite in my household.

I’ve been making this granola with rice krispies almost weekly because my little girl loves it. While I have many sugar free and oil free granola recipes, my girl loves this one the most due to the light and airy texture that the addition of rice krispies provides.

The granola with hemp seeds and chia seeds is a staple in our kitchen, and I love that it’s made with healthy whole food ingredients and brain-boosting omega-3 fats. My 3 year old loves this homemade cinnamon oat granola with plain yogurt, and it makes such an easy, nutritious breakfast.

She gets so excited when I tell her I am making this granola with rice krispies and oats and insists on helping me add the ingredients to the mixing bowl and stir them all together. Even before it is baked, she sneaks in a few bites and a taste of maple syrup!

Why You’ll Love This Healthy Cinnamon Granola Recipe

  • Oil-Free & Naturally Sweetened – Instead of using processed sugars or oils, this sugar-free granola is naturally sweetened with pure maple syrup and vanilla extract, keeping it naturally sweet and delicious.
  • Spiced for Blood Sugar Support – Cinnamon is known to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels and helps to naturally sweeten the homemade granola.
  • Light & Airy Crunch – The addition of brown rice krispies creates a granola that has a light and airy crunch.
  • Packed with Healthy Fats & Protein – Hemp, chia, and pumpkin seeds add protein, fiber, and healthy fats, including essential anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats for brain health.
  • Versatile & Delicious – Enjoy the cinnamon granola on its own, with plant-based milk, plain yogurt, or topped on smoothie bowls for a delicious crunch.

Ingredients for the Oil Free Granola with Rice Krispies

  • 6 cups quick oats (for a classic granola base)
  • 4 cups brown rice krispies (for an extra crunch)
  • ½ cup hemp seeds (for plant-based protein and omega-3s)
  • ½ cup chia seeds (to boost fiber and healthy fats)
  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds (for a delicious nutty flavor)
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon (the star spice for warmth and flavor)
  • 1 tbsp nutmeg (for a subtle, cozy spice blend)
  • 6 tbsp vanilla extract (adds depth and helps coat the ingredients)
  • 1 cup maple syrup (a natural sweetener that binds the granola together)

How to Make Oil Free Vegan Granola

  1. Preheat and Prepare
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Mix the Dry Ingredients
  4. Combine the quick oats, brown rice krispies, chia, hemp and pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl. Stir everything together so the spices are evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare the Wet Ingredients
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the maple syrup and vanilla extract. The extra vanilla extract helps coat the granola beautifully, replacing the need for oil.
  7. Combine Everything
  8. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry mixture and stir well, ensuring every oat and crisp is lightly coated with the maple-vanilla mixture.
  9. Bake Until Golden
  10. Spread the granola mixture evenly on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 25–30 minutes, stirring once halfway through. Check at the 25 min mark to see if you need the extra 5 mins or not.
  11. Cool and Enjoy
  12. Allow the granola to cool completely before storing. It crisps up beautifully as it cools!
