The Best Liver Detox Smoothie with Blueberries, Cauliflower, and Cilantro

February 14, 2022 by Amber

Get liver-cleansing vegetables and fruit into your diet by making the best liver detox smoothie with blueberries, cauliflower, and cilantro. The cauliflower and blueberry smoothie is vegan, smooth, creamy, and super nutritious.

Anyone looking for liver cleansing smoothies will love this nutritious smoothie that is suitable for the whole family! Lately, I have been getting into smoothies with vegetables as a simple way to get vegetables into my diet and my baby girl’s diet, who is almost a toddler now.

Steamed cauliflower that is frozen and then blended into a cauliflower blueberry smoothie is a great way to get more liver-cleansing vegetables into your diet. My big baby girl slurped up this cauliflower smoothie with blueberries and cilantro, so it must be good! Or at least toddler-friendly!

I wanted to make a simple liver detox smoothie full of liver cleansing foods to support the liver with antioxidants and phytonutrients. Blueberries, cauliflower, and cilantro are some of the best foods to cleanse the liver.

Benefits of this liver detox smoothie

Cauliflower is an excellent source of plant protein and contains sulfur compounds to support the sulfation liver detoxification pathway.

Blueberries are one of the top antioxidant-rich fruits to fight inflammation and promote weight loss. Blueberry consumption has been shown to prevent fatty liver and is one of the best fruits for weight loss and insulin resistance.

Cilantro is a fantastic liver cleansing herb that helps to detox harmful heavy metals such as lead. It is also an excellent herb for gut health as it inhibits the growth of pathogenic bacteria in the gut.

The polyphenols in cilantro also help to reduce inflammation. Decreasing inflammation in the body is crucial for healing as chronic unchecked is the root cause of many health problems, including insulin resistance, arthritis, gastritis, etc. Think of excess inflammation whenever you see or hear itis at the end of a word.

I added a tsp of natural peanut butter as it complements cilantro and cauliflower and helps disguise the sulfur taste in cauliflower that can be overpowering for some people. Too many fats stress the liver, so I kept the amount minimal, although small amounts of fats help to promote phase 3 detoxification by stimulating the gallbladder to release bile. Optimizing phase 3 liver detox is essential for liver health and gut health!

Peanuts are an excellent source of magnesium and nutrients, including vitamin E, niacin, B6, folate, pantothenic acid, iron, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, iron, copper, manganese, and selenium.

Unfortunately, peanuts are a common food sensitivity for many people. Still, they are filled with many vitamins and minerals, including magnesium, an essential mineral for weight loss and liver detox.

One person’s superfood is frequently another person’s food sensitivity. Nothing is black or white when it comes to diet. It’s all about your unique nutritional needs.

The Viome gut test is a great way to tailor your diet to your unique microbiome. After taking IV antibiotics after minor surgery due to my labor, my active microbial diversity was crap. Receiving my Viome gut test results helped clarify and identify problematic foods and superfoods to promote the growth of beneficial bacteria.

Cauliflower is a great liver cleansing vegetable, but if you notice stinky gas after eating cauliflower, you may have an overgrowth of bacteria that produce hydrogen sulfide gas. The Viome gut test will measure your sulfide gas production. Anyone with too much hydrogen sulfide-producing bacteria will want to reduce sulfur-containing foods such as cauliflower.

I pre-steamed and froze the cauliflower for this blueberry cauliflower smoothie. A little prep goes a long way to make easy follow-up cauliflower smoothies.

Steaming cauliflower makes it easier to digest, although you can also use raw cauliflower in this liver cleansing smoothie recipe. The choice is yours 😊
