Carrot Banana Smoothie – Low Fat & Great for Weight Loss

September 9, 2023 by Amber

Carrot banana smoothie in a tall glass cup with a metal straw on a wood chopping board with a black and white tea towel, carrot and plant leaves surrounding the carrot smoothie. this post

This carrot banana smoothie is packed with essential nutrients and is low in fat yet contains 14 grams of protein thanks to the addition of collagen powder. Anyone looking for carrot smoothies for weight loss will love this banana and carrot smoothie, which is a great way to start your day and cleanse your liver.

Carrots and bananas are nutritious, and the natural sweetness from them plus orange juice makes the most delicious smoothie. This banana carrot smoothie recipe contains small amounts of omega-3 fats, which are healthy fats for supporting your weight loss goals.

Plus, carrots are rich in carotenoids, including beta carotene, which has been shown to help mitigate the progression of fatty liver in mice. This carrot banana smoothie’s orange color is due to the antioxidant-rich carotenoids found in carrots and oranges.

Fruits, vegetables, and flax seeds are good sources of fiber that are beneficial for providing satiety and are excellent for gut health. Frozen banana and almond milk with collagen powder yield the perfect creamy smoothie and, when combined with carrots, is one of the best healthy smoothie recipes.

The carrot and banana smoothie only contains 4 grams of fat per serving, which is in line with the recommendations in the mastering diabetes program to lose weight and reverse insulin resistance.

If you have not read the Mastering Diabetes book I highly recommend you read it!

It has less than 1 gram of saturated fats, which are the most problematic fats for people with insulin resistance. I added flax seeds as they are rich in plant-based omega-3 fats that are beneficial for weight loss and essential for brain health.

You can find this banana carrot smoothie in my 16 healthy smoothie recipes for weight loss and liver detox E-book that you can sign up to access in my library of recipe E-books which are designed to be printed on standard letter paper to create your own recipe book binder.

Ingredients for the carrot banana smoothie:

  • 3/4 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 2 scoops Organika Collagen Powder
  • 2 ice cubes

Instructions:

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Start by washing and chopping the raw carrots into 1-inch pieces. You can also use baby carrots as well. Peel, slice, and freeze the ripe banana for easy blending and to chill this carrot banana smoothie.
  2. Add the Main Ingredients: Place the chopped carrots, frozen banana, ice cubes, and flax seeds into your blender. These ingredients are packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals to keep you full and energized.
  3. Boost of Vitamin C: Pour in the fresh orange juice to provide a refreshing flavor and a healthy dose of vitamin C, a vital nutrient for immune support.
  4. Protein Powder: Scoop in the Organika Collagen Powder. Collagen is known to support joint health and promote a glowing complexion, making it a fantastic addition to any wellness routine.
  5. Creamy Base: Add the almond milk. This non-dairy milk provides a creamy texture and is an excellent alternative to regular milk or yogurt.
  6. Blend to Perfection: Secure the lid on your high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Pour the carrot banana smoothie into a glass and enjoy it as a quick breakfast or healthy snack in the afternoon.
  8. Optional Additions: For extra protein and healthy fats, add some hemp seeds or spice with a dash of vanilla extract and cinnamon for a smoothie that tastes like carrot cake.

Be sure to use frozen banana to yield a thicker smoothie texture. For a thinner carrot orange juice texture you can use a fresh banana.

Health Benefits of this Carrot Banana Smoothie for Weight Loss:

  1. Low in Calories: This smoothie contains nutrient-rich ingredients without being overly calorie-dense, making it a suitable addition to a weight loss regimen.
  2. High Fiber Content: Carrots and flax seeds are excellent sources of dietary fiber. Fiber promotes a feeling of fullness, curbing overeating and snacking between meals.
  3. Protein Boost: The collagen powder in this smoothie adds plant-based protein that can help you feel satisfied and maintain lean muscle mass during weight loss.
  4. Nutrient Variety: The combination of carrots, banana, orange juice, and flax seeds offers a variety of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, supporting your overall health while you shed pounds.
  5. Natural Sweetness: The natural sugars from the banana and orange juice provide a natural sweetness without relying on added sugars, making this smoothie a healthier choice.
  6. Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Flax seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can aid in reducing inflammation, supporting heart health, and potentially influencing weight loss.
