How to Steam Kale
The easiest and best way to steam kale is in a double boiler. Wash and destem the kale then place in the top double boiler pot. This pot has holes in the bottom to let the steam through. The holes also allow for the water to drain out which is why it is so easy to make steamed kale in a double boiler.
Place 1.5 cup of water in the bottom of the double boiler and bring to a boil. Place the second pot on top with the lid secured and boil for two minutes.
When using a double boiler you do not need lots of water, although make sure that you do have enough water in the bottom of the pot as you do not want to burn your pot as the water evaporates quickly when boiled.

Steamed Kale Recipe with Sesame Tahini Sauce
Equipment

Ingredients
- 1 bunch kale
- 1.5 cups water
- 4 tbsp tahini
- 2 tsp gluten-free tamari
- 2 tsp nutritional yeast
- 1 tsp cold-pressed sesame oil
- 2 tsp water
- 1 tsp sriracha
Instructions
- To make the steamed kale place 1.5 cups of water in the bottom pot of a double boiler.
- Wash and destem kale and place in the top pot of the double boiler.
- Bring the water in the bottom pot to a boil before placing the top double boiler potover the steaming heat.
- Steam the kale for 2 minutes.
- To make the sesame tahini sauce, measure all the ingredients into a small jar and stir.
