One of the most well-known benefits of turmeric is its anti-inflammatory properties, which is why this turmeric smoothie is so good for pain and inflammation.

Chronic inflammation is an underlying cause of weight gain. It is difficult to lose weight with chronic inflammation due to the overproduction of cortisol leading to insulin resistance and weight gain. This article explains how food sensitivities and inflammation lead to weight gain.

This vegan turmeric mango smoothie can help with weight loss due to turmerics’ anti-inflammatory properties. For weight loss, use coconut milk instead of cream as it is lower in calories and fats.  Plus, this turmeric smoothie tastes delicious!

The addition of coconut cream provides healthy fats for satiety and long-lasting energy. Coconut cream also makes the most delicious creamy smoothie that is the perfect substitute for icecream. I am all about finding healthier food swaps for unhealthy foods.

Mango Turmeric Smoothie

1 banana
2 cups frozen mango
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp turmeric root powder
1/2 cup coconut cream
1/2 cup water

Place all ingredients into a blending jug, then use an immersion blender to blend. I like to use an immersion blender to make thick and creamy smoothies, as you can manually move the immersion blender up and down while blending. With an immersion blender, you don’t have to add a lot of liquid when making smoothies.

You can also use a high-speed blender such as a Vitamix or optimum 9200 blender to make thick and creamy smoothies. You can get a nice and thick smoothie to serve in your favorite smoothie bowl when using a high-speed blender or immersion blender.

Try topping the mango turmeric smoothie bowl with some homemade granola and chia seeds!

Nutrition Tip ~ Curcumin is the extract out of turmeric root with anti-inflammatory properties that can help to counter the effects of chronic inflammation in the body.
