baby purees for constipation

These three simple baby purees to help your baby poop and relieve constipation are super easy to make and will have your baby pooping in no time. They are gentle on the digestive system and tasty, so your baby will love them!

Any mom or dad looking for baby food purees to help your baby poop has to try making these super easy baby purees for constipation with pear, prunes, and peaches.

After a month of starting to introduce solids to my baby girl, she all of a sudden stopped pooping. While it can be normal for babies to poop only once a week, it wasn’t normal for my baby as she always pooped every day or at least every second day. So when she hadn’t pooped in 5 days, I started to research the best foods for a constipated baby and foods to avoid for baby constipation.

I had started to introduce various foods, including small amounts of ground chia and flax seeds in my smoothies, bananas, yogurt, avocado, beans, quinoa, and sweet potato. When she became constipated, I had no idea what was causing her constipation, so I decided to go back to square one with super easy-to-digest baby purees made with blended water to help with constipation.

I learned that bananas, dairy, chia, and flax seeds could all contribute to constipation in babies, especially chia and flax seeds, if they are not presoaked in the correct amount of water. Chia and flax seeds are very concentrated and absorb a lot of water. If your baby is not drinking enough water or fluids, these seeds can be constipating.

Before her constipation worsened, I wanted to try making some homemade baby purees to help my baby poop.

Foods that start with P are the best baby foods for constipation, including pears, prunes, and peaches. I combined the pear puree for baby constipation with spinach, an excellent source of iron, calcium, magnesium, and folate.

The best baby puree to help with constipation is steamed pears and prunes blended with water. My girl pooped three times after introducing this baby puree for constipation. Once you get your baby’s bowels moving again, this puree also tastes delicious with plain yogurt, an excellent source of fats and proteins. Yup, I ate this baby puree with yogurt. You might want to make extra for yourself!

My baby girl also loved the blueberry peach and water baby puree. She pooped the next day after introducing this puree along with the pear and spinach puree and continued to poop daily after using all 3 of these baby purees.

These simple and nutritious baby purees to help babies poop worked wonders to relieve my baby girl’s mild bout of constipation. I was relieved and a happy mama to know that my girl was not blocked up or uncomfortable.

You can serve one of these homemade baby purees daily to help keep your little one’s bowels moving. All you need to make these homemade baby purees is a double boiler and high-speed blender.

It only takes 20 minutes total to make all three of these baby purees for constipation.

Boil water in a double boiler, then put the ingredients in the top portion of the double boiler for 5 minutes before blending with water and storing in a glass jar.

Transfer the steamed ingredients into a blender, then add the next batch of ingredients to the steamer while you blend and store the previous steamed baby foods for the puree.

You can also freeze the baby purees into a plastic ice cube tray that is malleable and pull out a cube to defrost for an easy follow-up meal.  After the baby puree has frozen, I transfer them to a freezer bag with my collection of other baby food purees, where they will last for three months in the freezer. Such a great way to batch cook homemade baby purees for a later date!
